Kubernetes is a popular open source tool for managing and orchestrating container based applications. You can use it to automate the deployment, scaling and management of your platform and applications.
When using Kubernetes, you define a desired state for the system and leave it up to Kubernetes to reach and maintain that state. Kubernetes also includes the ability to extend the automation capabilities of the system to include new services and applications. One way to create such extensions is in the form of Kubernetes Operators.
Because of its robust history and unparalleled flexibility, Kubernetes is a widespread service orchestration tool, supported by all major cloud providers and developed by an active community.
So - what can you do with your your Aiven for PostgreSQL and Aiven for Apache Kafka services on Kubernetes? The Aiven Operator for Kubernetes offers access to all the same operations as our public REST API. At the same time, it lets you manage your Aiven infrastructure using Kubernetes tooling. It also supports Aiven native resources, like Aiven Projects and Aiven VPCs.
