The Role:

Aiven is looking for an extraordinary leader with deep PostgreSQL mastery to step in as our Director of PostgreSQL Service. You'll lead a thrilling mission to expand our enterprise stronghold while capturing the low-end market with an unparalleled developer experience. This isn't just about databases, it's about cementing Aiven as the definitive leader in managed PostgreSQL for the AI era.

What you’ll do:

Product Vision & Strategic execution

  • Forge the future of PostgreSQL: Architect and champion the strategic roadmap for Aiven's PostgreSQL service, pushing the boundaries for enterprise-grade performance, reliability, and security at immense scale. Simultaneously, you'll redefine the developer experience at the low end of the market, making Aiven for PostgreSQL the irresistible choice for every builder. Your ultimate goal is to make every customer, regardless of their scale, wildly successful with Aiven for PostgreSQL.
  • Power the AI revolution: Drive the innovation of our next-gen PostgreSQL capabilities specifically designed to power AI agent workflows and intelligent applications. You'll ensure our service isn't just compatible with AI, but foundational to its success, becoming the go-to database for the next wave of innovation.

Market Leadership & Growth

  • Exponential growth via cloud partners: Drive the exponential growth of our PostgreSQL business with prominent cloud partners beyond the hyperscalers. You'll evolve our service to be performant and highly attractive on these platforms, empowering our partners to succeed and expanding our reach into new markets.
  • Drive user growth from free tier to high-scale enterprise load, owning the entire customer journey and leveraging data gravity to foster adoption and expansion across our platform.
  • Conquer market perception: Beyond building great tech, you'll own the narrative. You'll wield business-to-developer marketing and a bold thought leadership strategy to position Aiven for PostgreSQL as the go-to database for every workload, at every scale. This includes securing high-impact partnerships with cutting-edge startups (like Bolt.new and lovable.dev) for instant market recognition and undeniable thought leadership.
  • Key partner to our Sales organization: Enable them with compelling product vision, clear messaging, and sales tools. You'll excite the sales team with the future of Aiven PostgreSQL, empowering them to articulate our value proposition effectively and close deals.
