At Aiven, we believe that you should have the freedom to deploy your data wherever your business needs it to be. Whether you are optimizing for performance, compliance, or regional proximity, our goal is to ensure that the underlying infrastructure supports your innovation without friction.
Today, we are excited to expand those choices by officially announcing that OVHcloud is now available as a supported infrastructure provider for Aiven customers.
Strategic Infrastructure and Data Control
For many of our customers, having precise control over where their data lives and how it is governed is a fundamental part of building a resilient, future-proof digital architecture. The choice of your data's home is no longer a secondary detail, it is a core strategic decision.
The addition of OVHcloud infrastructure on aiven.io highlights our commitment to providing a diverse range of infrastructure options that align with our customers’ strategic requirements.
Key Advantages of OVHcloud Integration
- Independent Data Sovereignty: OVHcloud offers a unique, European-grown alternative for organizations looking to diversify their footprint. This partnership provides additional paths to meet specific residency goals while maintaining the high standards of security and reliability you expect from any provider on the Aiven platform.
- Modern Cloud Performance: OVHcloud provides a robust and highly stable environment built for the demands of the modern cloud. This ensures that your clusters benefit from a performant foundation that is ready to handle your most data-intensive applications.
- Unified Open Source Standards: Both Aiven and OVHcloud share a deep-rooted commitment to open-source ecosystems. This integration reinforces our "no vendor lock-in" philosophy, ensuring your tech stack remains transparent, reversible, and fully portable across our entire global network of providers.
What This Means for You
Starting today, you can select OVHcloud regions directly from the Aiven Console or via our Terraform provider. This means you can now deploy a fully managed, high-availability cluster for PostgreSQL, MySQL, Apache Kafka®, OpenSearch®, Valkey™, or ClickHouse® on sovereign infrastructure in just a few clicks.
As we continue to grow, we remain dedicated to offering the most flexible managed open-source data platform available, running on the infrastructure that best aligns with your organizational goals.

How to Migrate to OVHcloud
Step 1: Initiation
- Log in to the Aiven Console.
- Select the service you wish to migrate (e.g., Aiven for PostgreSQL).
- On the Overview tab, find the Cloud provider section and click Change.
Step 2: Selection
- From the list of available providers, select OVHcloud.
- Choose your preferred Region (for example,
avn-ovh-parin France oravn-ovh-de1in Germany). - Review the plan details and click Confirm.
Step 3: Synchronization
- What happens next: Aiven automatically spins up a new cluster in the OVHcloud region and begins synchronizing data from your original provider.
- Status: Your service status will change to Rebuilding. Your existing service remains fully operational and "read-write" during this time.
Step 4: The Cutover
- Once synchronization is complete, Aiven performs a brief switchover.
- The DNS records for your service will be updated to point to the new OVHcloud nodes.
Note: Your application will experience a very short connectivity blip (usually a few seconds) while the DNS propagates and connections shift.
Tip: If you are using Terraform, you simply need to update the project_vpc_id (if applicable) and the cloud_name attribute in your resource block to the new OVHcloud region string and run terraform apply.
