PostGIS now available on Aiven for PostgreSQL 18

PostGIS 3.6.4 is now fully supported on Aiven for PostgreSQL 18.

PostGIS has been one of the main blockers for users wanting to upgrade to PostgreSQL 18. That's now resolved. Spatial workloads can make the jump to PG18 with full PostGIS support, including geometry, geography, raster, and topology features.

PostGIS 3.6.4 is available on new and upgraded PG18 services, with no changes required on your end.

Note: If your service uses PostGIS topology columns (topology.topoelement or topology.topoelementarray), a breaking change in PostGIS 3.6 requires a manual migration step before upgrading the extension. See Troubleshoot PostGIS upgrade issues for the step-by-step procedure.
