We’re a global team of over 400 people, working together to push the boundaries of open-source technology and multi-cloud solutions. Our vision is to help developers, builders, and creators bring their ideas to life with speed and simplicity, by providing a cloud data platform that makes open-source databases, search, streaming, and application infrastructure easily accessible to everyone.

The Role

Do you find the month-end close and revenue accounting exciting? Then keep reading. What we’re offering is a full ownership role. The consolidated financials, the audit relationship, the revenue recognition policy – they all sit with you. But ownership here means more than signing off on the numbers. Every process you inherit, you improve. This is an opportunity with real accountability and a genuine mandate to transform how a scaling international company does financial reporting.

Your Mission: Own the Numbers the World Sees

You will be Aiven's primary owner of group consolidation and financial reporting. This is a technical leadership role, not a coordination role. You’ll own the integrity of our consolidated financials, our IFRS compliance, our revenue treatment, and our audit outcomes.

You will sit inside a Finance team that is serious about doing things right — and equally serious about doing them efficiently. That means you bring both depth and pace.

In concrete terms, this means you'll:

  • Own group accounting end to end: Prepare and review the consolidated financial statements under IFRS, maintain group accounting policies, and ensure consistency and accuracy across all entities. You are the standard-setter.
  • Lead the monthly close and IFRS reporting cycle: Drive the month- and quarterly-end close process, including preparation and review of IFRS-specific entries, with supporting variance analysis and clear commentary. You keep the process tight and the output right.
  • Own revenue accounting and controlling: Ensure revenue is recognised accurately and consistently under IFRS 15 across Aiven's product portfolio, maintain the revenue recognition policy, review contract terms for accounting implications, and own the deferred revenue reconciliation. You are the control point between what the business books and what the financials show.
  • Be the primary counterpart for external audit: Own the audit relationship from planning through completion. You coordinate, you prepare, you review, and you resolve. Audit findings do not linger.
  • Navigate tax at group level: Own the financial statement representation of tax positions, including CIT provisioning, deferred tax, and tax disclosures, working from positions determined by the Tax Manager and ensuring audit readiness across all tax-related line items.
  • Deliver reporting: Prepare Group financial reporting and support board and investor reporting. Accuracy and clarity are non-negotiable.
  • Improve our processes: Every workflow you own should be better documented, more efficient, and more resilient than when you found it. You do not maintain the status quo for its own sake.

What We're Looking For

  • Technical depth, not just credentials: You are a qualified accountant with hands-on experience in group consolidation and IFRS reporting. You understand IFRS 15 well enough to assess new contract structures and identify recognition risks. You can resolve a complex accounting question yourself — you do not always need to escalate to a manager.
  • Audit experience that goes both ways: You have been the primary interface with external auditors and you know what good looks like. You prepare thoroughly, you manage the process, and you make it easier rather than harder for both sides.
  • Tax literacy: You understand group tax mechanics well enough to translate positions from the Tax Manager into accurate financial statement treatment, and to engage credibly with auditors on tax disclosures.
  • A process improver by instinct: You see inefficiency and your first instinct is to fix it, not work around it. You leave things better than you found them.
  • A clear communicator: You can explain a technical accounting position, a control gap, or an audit finding to a non-accountant without losing them. You write clearly and you speak directly.
  • Comfortable in a scaling environment: You have built or improved reporting processes in a fast-moving international company. Ambiguity does not slow you down.
