We are excited to announce two major updates to Aiven for Valkey: support for the highly anticipated Valkey 9 and the introduction of multi-version support.
Whether you are running large-scale clusters or managing complex data structures, these updates provide the throughput, granular data control and deployment flexibility you need.
What’s New in Valkey 9?
Valkey 9 is a major release designed to maximize throughput and optimize memory usage.
Key highlights include:
- Hash field expiration: You can now set TTLs (time-to-live) on individual fields within a single Hash key using commands like
HEXPIREandHTTL. This reduces memory overhead by allowing specific pieces of data to expire without needing to delete the entire key or split data across multiple keys. - Major throughput gains:
- Zero-copy & prefetching: Up to 40% higher throughput for pipelined requests and 20% for large responses.
- Multipath TCP: Reduces network latency by up to 25%.
Introducing Multi-Version Support
To give you more control over your infrastructure, Aiven for Valkey now supports multiple concurrent versions.
You can now choose between the two latest upstream Valkey versions when creating or upgrading your services. Available for both standalone and clustered modes, this flexibility allows you to safely test new features or maintain environment stability on a schedule that works for your team.
