- Devoxx Belgium (October 2-6): Joining Devoxx Belgium as speakers this year are Sébastien Blanc and Olena Kutsenko. Learn about Kafka partitions, and about writing your first VS Code extension from them!
- Real Time Data at Scale - Tallinn (October 11): @OlenaKutsenko talked about best practices when handling Apache Kafka partitions
- Devopsdays Eindhoven (October 11-12): Claude Warren, Jr had two (2!) talks at this Devopsdays. Ben Gamble took the opening keynote, talking about ethics in/and AI. Floor Drees is one of the organizers.
- Cloud Nord (October 12): Sébastien Blanc delivered the opening keynote talking about the future of Cloud Native.
- Munich OSDI meetup (October 19): Many thanks to Calum Muir who both hosted and spoke about Kafka Tiered Storage this meetup, which also featured a talk on “Iterations of the Data Engineering Stack” by Paul Rogalinski-Pinter, Lead Software Engineer at 4.screen (an Aiven Cluster program participant).
- Barcelona JUG (October 25): Courtesy of Sébastien Blanc , the Barcelona OSDI teamed up with Barcelona Java User Group (JUG). Speakers: Alex Soto, Director of Developer Experience at Red Hat, and Juarez Barbosa Junior, Senior Principal Java Developer Evangelist at Oracle. Topics were “From Monolith to (µ)Services. What happens with my Data?” and “Revolutionize Java Database App Development with Java Virtual Threads and Reactive Streams”
- Asynconf (October 31) : Sébastien Blanc delivered a talk on facial recognitiom and pgvector.
- Amsterdam OSDI meetup (October 31 ): Floor Drees hosted at Textkernel, with Boriss Mejias, Solution Architect at EDB, and Jelte Fennema-Nio, Principal Software Engineer at Microsoft. Topics were “Relational and Post-relational Postgres for Data Application Developers” and “The future of connection pooling: PGBouncer or something else?”
AMER
- Community over Code (October 7-10, Halifax): Matthew de Detrich spoke at Community over Code (formerly ApacheCon), about “Pekko: Hard solutions to the issues of hard-forking”. Apache Pekko is is an open-source framework for building applications that are concurrent, distributed, resilient and elastic. It is a fork of the akka project, after it adopted a BSL license.
APAC
- Devopsdays Bengaluru (October 20-21, Bangalore, India): Floor Drees delivered her session “Scaling your work in the open - Tech is only the tip of the iceberg”.
