Changelog

PG Studio for Aiven for PostgreSQL® generally available

    Improved
    Aiven for PostgreSQL®

PG Studio is now generally available for Aiven for PostgreSQL® services. What started as an AI-powered SQL editor is now a full SQL console built into the Aiven Console, split into three tools: SQL editor, Tables, and Extensions. Explore your data, run queries, and manage extensions without leaving your browser or setting up a local client.

What's new since early availability

  • Separate SQL editor and Tables: The editor and the table browser are now distinct tools in the left-hand menu of your service, each with a layout built for its job.
  • Multi-statement queries: Select and run several statements at once, with each result in its own tab, so the editor works for scripts and not just single queries.
  • Extensions: Explore extensions available in the selected database with their versions and schemas. Enable, disable or update them when a newer version is available. No SQL required.
  • Schema tree: Navigate even complex schemas with ease using the new schema tree in Tables, with more usability improvements on the way.
  • Better result sets: Data types now display correctly, columns follow the order in your statement, and results and pagination are smoother to work with.
  • Session persistence: Your editor session is stored, so reloading the page or navigating away no longer clears your tabs and context.
  • Faster workflows: Tab autocomplete for keywords; Cmd+Enter or Ctrl+Enter to run; and saved queries, which are private to you.
  • Higher rate limits: Query execution limits have been raised.

Built with security and stability in mind

  • Privacy-first AI: The AI Assistant uses your database schema and the SQL you send as context. Your data is not used to train AI models.
  • Built-in safeguards: Encrypted connections, statement and lock timeouts, blocked privilege-escalation requests, and rate limits help protect your service while you work.
