Data API for Aiven for PostgreSQL®

Aiven for PostgreSQL® now supports Data API, a new way to turn your database into a backend. It exposes your tables as secure REST endpoints directly from the Aiven Console, without backend code to write or host.

Data API is powered by PostgREST and appears under Connect > Data API in the service menu. Key capabilities:

• Instant REST endpoints: generated from your database schema, with GET, POST, PATCH, and DELETE methods per table.
• Authentication with your identity provider: authenticate requests with JWTs issued by your own identity provider (Auth0, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID).
• Authorization with PostgreSQL roles: standard roles and table privileges control access, based on the role carried in the token.
• Dedicated, separately billed application: Data API runs as its own Aiven Runtime application. Use the recommended cloud, region, and plan, or configure your own.

Data API is an early availability feature available for select plans and clouds.
