Aiven for MySQL® incremental backups now generally available

    Improved
    Aiven for MySQL

Incremental backups for Aiven for MySQL® are now generally available. Back up only the changes made since your last full backup, instead of taking a full backup every day.

Incremental backups shorten DDL lock times on large databases and reduce how much storage your backups use, because each incremental backup stores only the differences since the last one. You choose which days of the week full backups are taken on, and incremental backups are taken in between.

In the Aiven Console, the Backups page now shows a Backup type column, so you can see which of your stored backups are full and which are incremental. During a restore, you can also follow which backup in the chain is being applied.

Enable incremental backups with the mysql_incremental_backup advanced configuration option in the Aiven Console, Aiven API, Aiven Provider for Terraform, or Aiven Operator for Kubernetes.

To get started, see Use Aiven for MySQL® incremental backups.
