Open Source Data Infrastructure meetups in Berlin and Helsinki

We recently hosted two very successful kick-off meetups in Berlin (24.5) and Helsinki (8.6) and here’s some scoop:

  • 80+ attendees in Berlin and 50+ in Helsinki - thanks to everyone who came along!
  • Co-hosted with wonderful partners Wolt (Berlin) and PingCAP (Helsinki)
  • Berlin program:
    • Hellmar Becker (Imply) talked about the process of building an event analytics pipeline with Apache Kafka, ksqlDB, and Apache Druid. Slides can be found here
    • Anil Sahin, Stephen Batifol, and Kasimir Aula from Wolt shared how Wolt powers Logistics through the ML platform to deliver to millions of people. Check out the slide deck here
    • Watch the recording here
  • Helsinki program:
    • Tero Turunen (Wärtsilä) shared how Wärtsilä’s Digital Product Development team uses Kafka to serve marine and energy customers
    • Mattias Jonsson (PingCAP) introduced TiDB - a distributed SQL database
    • Andrei Fedorov (Bolt) shared their findings while designing an architecture that ensures the seamless and uninterrupted operation of TiDB even in the face of significant disruptions

We really enjoyed networking and connecting with attendees and speakers of both meetups over some nice food and (non-alcoholic) drinks!
